Pittville Gates

The Pittville Gates are the grand entrance to the Pittville Estate which was originally developed by Joseph Pitt. The ornamental arch was added in 1897. The gate have been restored and were formally re-opened on 7 April 2015. Note the coat of arms above the gate with a pigeon, this bird played an important part in the development of Cheltenham, pecking at salt at a mineral well.
