At the north end of Keswick Market Place on Main Street a local nurseryman has set up his stall and is enjoying a chat during a lull in trade on market day. The building with the clock beyond Bank Street is Keswick Town Hall and it also housed Keswick Register Office on the ground floor. The nearest Register Office is now in Penrith. Main Street is the route of The Cumbria Way, a (74 mile) 119km long distance path from Carlisle to Ulverston.
