Despite the date, the chapel was heavily remodelled in 1825-8, although some 17th century masonry exists and some medieval stonework from the pre-reformation period included. The chapel was owned in the 17th century by a puritan family and eventually became a Congregational chapel. Subsequent history is very varied and it is currently (2022) home to a bar which doubles as a second hand bookshop. Listed Grade II.
