The downstream face. Grade II listed, 1782, widened 1930. Officially it is 50 m above the upstream limit of navigation. However, this ramp down leads ahead to some resemblance of a wharf. For a period a very small building was mapped on the right, apparently at this lower level up against the bridge. Was this for pleasure boating, out of the way of the commercial wharf downstream on the other bank?
