This large bell can be rung by swinging through an arc using this piece of mechanism and a synchronised mate on the opposite side of the axis. This is a 'curved' linear induction motor and is an interesting piece of kit that I did not expect to see in this context. It has been developed by Taylor's with appropriate help specifically for this task.
