The neo-gothic church was built between 1872-1874. The church claims to be the "tallest church in England". Many churches are taller when their spires or steeples are included, however, St Bartholomew's lacks a steeple or tower, and has a height of 135 feet (41 m). The church is a Grade I-listed building, its vast interior size and acoustics makes it an ideal venue for classical and other music concerts.
