Thorpe Bay station serves the suburban and seaside settlement of Thorpe Bay, part of the City of Southend-on-Sea. It is the penultimate stop on the line to Shoeburyness from London Fenchurch Street and was originally opened in 1910, somewhat before the area's main development period which followed the First World War.
