Magnolia, Torre Marine

Image: © Derek Harper Taken: 9 Mar 2008

Proof that the Magnolia campbellii shown in Image is still flourishing, although this does not show its blooms at their most glorious. What is interesting about this is that it was claimed more than ten years ago that the tree was dying, a claim not unrelated to plans to redevelop the then college site which required the felling of the tree. The tree now survives within the Torre Marine housing development that is springing up around it.
