One of the 615 original milestones set up for the West Riding CC in 1893/94 on many main routes they wished to promote all over the old West Riding. It was painted a few years ago by Milestone Society members from York. This road, now A659, was the route through Tadcaster, over the River Wharf, before the by-pass was built. Tadcaster is now in North Yorkshire.
