There was once a major pottery to the north of the road. Note the 'no motor vehicles except for access' sign, reinforced by a larger sign 'through route to Hill Top illegal'. I saw four vehicles in the space of about 30 seconds ignore this, and I doubt they all had legitimate reasons for access.
