The inscription on this box tomb in the churchyard of St Botolph's, Knottingley bears recording for what it says of religious belief and cultural expectations of the time: To the memory of Williamson Noble, Mariner The beloved husband of Ann Mariner Born May 6, 1816, died November 21, 1842 Forgive, O righteous Judge, the tear That mourns his exit from a world like this. Forgive the wish that would have kept him here And stay'd his progress to the realms of bliss.
