Wessex Cottage, Church Lane, was originally two cottages, now combined into one detached house. Built in the mid 18th century and greatly restored in the late 20th century. Constructed of rubble stone under a thatch roof. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1119221 Osmington is a small commuter village astride the A353 road, some 3¾ miles northeast of Weymouth. There is evidence of settlement in the Bronze Age, and the village was mentioned in a charter of 940. Osmington is renowned for the hill figure of King George III riding a horse, carved in 1808.
