The 2½ Miles TO and FROM milestone on the A641 Bradford Road just north of the A6107 traffic island is well back from the road in front of the garden wall of No.682. These stones were set up at ½ mile intervals to determine carriage fares. They started at 1 mile from Huddersfield town centre towards the town boundaries which on this road was just north of this stone.
