Twelve years earlier, in 2010, it was noted here (Image) that 'plans exist to restore the route (of the Derby Canal) to create an attractive cruising ring - out via Derby, returning via Trentlock - although a great deal of work would be needed before that could happen'. According to the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust website (for July 2022) some work has been undertaken at Sandiacre to conduct a tree survey prior to moving a sewer that would be necessary before any work on the canal itself could be undertaken. All good stuff no doubt, but at this rate of progress nobody alive today can expect to ever boat from Sandiacre to Derby.
