Crome Walk was named in honour of John Crome (1768 – 1821) an English landscape and marine painter founder of the Norwich School of painters. His son, John Berney Crome (1794 – 1842) was also an English landscape and marine artist. He is sometimes known by the nickname 'Young Crome' to distinguish him from his father John, known as 'Old Crome'. The housing estate has a score of roads, closes and walks named after artists local and international
