Shodfriars Hall

Grade II* listed Shodfriars Hall is a 15th-century timber-framed building that was remodelled and restored in 1874 by J. Oldrid Scott, son of famous architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. The large building to the rear is the theatre where local boy Arthur Towle made his stage debut in 1899, later achieving fame as Arthur Lucan or 'Old Mother Riley'.
