Trig pillar on Aughrim Hill, 2 miles west of Toome. Although close to the centre of Northern Ireland, the pillar is very low at only 30 metres above sea level. Almost lost in the vegetation, I was pleasantly surprised that the pillar is still here at all - I thought that it had been destroyed during the building of the new A6 road Image as the field it is in was completely obliterated during the construction; luckily someone must have noticed the pillar and had left it alone at the edge of the field. The flush bracket - OSNIBM 3028 - is inaccessible, but this is the top of the pillar which is slightly damaged but intact. See also Image
