Originally this had been the Haunch of Venison http://pubs-of-manchester.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/nicklebys.html but later became known as Nickleby's. It was recognised as one of the only gay-friendly pubs in the area. It closed in the late 1990s and was subsequently renovated and used as offices for Knights Fashion Agencies, a clothes importer. In 2017 it reopened as The Allotment Image but has now changed its name to Herd NQ. The building is Grade II listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1209604?section=official-list-entry
