Fields beside Hilldrop Farm. In this grid-square there is a triangle of lanes that now lead only to Hilldrop and neighbouring properties. Formerly these continued southwards but were closed when the M4 was built. One of the lanes (at the bottom of this field) was the B4001. This road was diverted to the east. Traffic on the motorway can just be seen in this shot. Use of cuttings and embankments means that the motorway maintains an almost flat course through this section of the Berkshire Downs. It's just east of Membury Services. Sheep were higher up in this field.
