This interesting headstone is propped against the churchyard wall and is facing east. It's the first one I've seen with a tile inlaid in this manner. There may be no connection, but it's interesting to note that the Godwin brothers, William and Henry, began to manufacture encaustic tiles at Lugwardine in 1852, many with geometric designs. The nearby chapel has a tiled floor.
