Looking on the internet at the time of submission the Post Office was still there with different owners. still called Lower Coombe Post Office, though the address is given as 127 Coombe Vale Road, and the street sign in this photograph says Coombe Park Road. At the time the photograph was taken the Post Office was run by a Mrs Heath, who was a friend of my great aunt, and who can be seen in the photograph standing by the car. I have been advised by a visitor to Geograph (July 2010) that sadly this is no longer a post office, although the post box remains on the opposite side of the road, where Mrs Heath is facing. It ceased to be a post office in 2009, not because of closures by the Royal Mail, but because it was uneconomical for the current owners. It is now a general store and off licence, the address anomaly is because it takes its address from Coombe Vale Road, which starts down the lane in the direction the car is pointing and continues behind the photographers viewpoint to join Bitton Park Road. The name Coombe Vale is a bit of a tautology as both elements refer to valleys.
