This was the first street to be treated under the Smawthorne and Glasshoughton renewal scheme of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The houses were refurbished externally with new roofs, windows and doors, the brickwork cleaned and re-pointed, and given new garden walls, while the streets were re-paved, traffic-calmed and planted with trees.
