These timber steps connect Duke Street with Windyknowe Road and in total there are 211 steps to negotiate. The steps take a sharp dog-leg about halfway and this is viewed from the change in direction down to Duke Street. These steps are noted in the Paths Around Galashiels walking booklet as the Kangaroo Steps.
