Number 97 High Street is dated 1668 and was refronted in the 18th century. Timber framed, stuccoed, jettied to the street, the ground floor of painted brick, all under a tile roof. Some interior panelling remains. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1353187 Hastings is a large seaside town in East Sussex, 53 miles (85 kilometres) southeast of London. The town gives its name to the Battle of Hastings in 1066, which took place 8 miles to the northwest. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. Following the arrival of the railway, Hastings became a popular seaside resort. The town has the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet, and fishing and tourism are the main elements of its economy.
