This is one of the 615 milestones set up in 1893/94 for the newly formed West Riding County Council. However the metal attachment protrudes forwards much more than on all the other known remaining milestones. It may be that the metal attachment was destroyed in the early 20C and the dimensions for a replacement sent incorrectly to the foundry (unknown). In 2008 this style of post in the Keighley area were all repainted and are kept in good order.
