The old L & N.E.R. branch line used to run from Oulton Broad South station to the South dock just west of the bascule bridge and various canning factories which once stood on the Belvedere and Waveney Roads. A further branch to the right ended at the site of various engineering factories and the Maconochie Brothers canning factory which was established at Lowestoft in 1877. It was the largest fish and meat canning factory in Britain. Off the main line another to the left took the line back towards Mutford Lock and Nelson's Wharf and the Factories at what is now the Quayside Business Centre at Oulton Broad. Image
