Most of the farm is disused, having been bought by Eastleigh Borough Council as a leisure resource and wild life reserve. The Council is of the opinion that by buying up and closing down working farms they can reduce nitrate pollution of waterways flowing into the Solent; it is unclear how food is to be grown under this policy.
