The London School of Medicine for Women was founded in 1874 in nearby Handel Street, and became part of the University of London in 1877, and was part of the Royal Free Hospital. This larger building was purpose built in 1897, designed by J. M. Brydon. It is now grade II listed - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1379142 This building is now the Hunter Street Medical Centre, the Royal Free having moved to Pond Street in the 1970s.
