On the B6107 at Badger Gate where a stream runs under the road this old stone is seen. The right face is inscribed TO/H/6 M. On the front is TO/A/9 M. On the left is (possibly) TO/M/2 On the back it has TF like a monogram or the cross of Lorraine. But most of the legends are very difficult to make out and this is probably not the original site of the stone. It may have been on the original line of the 1759 Wakefield to Austerlands turnpike. A could be Austerlands, M Meltham and H Huddersfield.
