A little brick building on the A3102 has a varied history. It began as a war memorial hall, built in 1920 and paid for largely by returning soldiers who donated some or all of their gratuity. It was used as a community room for recreation and reading; for a time it was used by the Boys' Club. After WWII, it was taken over as an overflow classroom for the school opposite; it then became a branch of the Midland Bank but in the mid 1990s the local council took it over as a library, which it remains. The building has a benchmark on it - see Image
