One of the upper galleries in Manchester Art Gallery. Frankly, the exhibition had a neglected air, and the gallery is struggling with its purpose and ambition. Several of the captions questioned the modern relevance of the pieces on display. I have no advice to offer, as for me the pre-Raphelites are rather a self-indulgent movement to my taste. I did notice the sumptuous frieze around the room which includes the famous Manchester Bee device.
