Bagnall's was a locomotive manufacturer which was founded in 1875 and operated until 1962 when under subsequent mergers and take-overs it became GEC Castle Engineering. It specialized in building narrow-gauge steam and diesel locomotives for industrial use. A housing estate named Bagnall Meadows now occupies the site. The first section of fencing next to the bridge parapet (on the right) is all that remains of the original site.
