The rear wall of the original Manchester Institute, now half of the Art Gallery, is partly enclosed within the glass atrium linking it to the Atheneum, and partly still an exterior wall. The gallery is a grade I listed building - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1282980?section=official-list-entry .
