Western Champion - D1015 - is one of seven preserved examples from the 74 built at Swindon. It is diesel hydraulic with a pair of 1350 horsepower Maybach MD655 diesel engines and it weighs 108 tons. It was built in 1963. Maximum speed is 90 mph and it has worked on the mainline in preservation. A return to the mainline is planned when both engines have been replaced.
