One of Bristol's less familiar old buildings, the hall was built in 1889 to the designs of local architects Foster and Wood. In more recent times David Street has been reduced in width after the construction of the local newspaper's new works opposite. As a Grade II listed building, its fate was in the balance in recent years but the decision to convert it into serviced apartments is now proceeding.
