To call Bowden's merely an ironmongers is to do it a disservice. An emporium, perhaps? Walking gear and maps, DIY stuff, mothballs, clothing, and just about everything else can be obtained. Most remarkable of all, next door (to the left) is Webbers, a very similar establishment, also of longstanding. Both are family run.
