Triple Trawler Tragedy

In 1968, the crews and three trawlers from Kingston upon Hull were lost at sea, now known as the Triple Trawler Tragedy. On the 50th anniversary of the disaster, a memorial to the crews, in the form of a trawler's bower anchor, was unveiled by Councillor John Black on 5 February 2018 in the grounds of the three tower blocks of flats in Valiant Drive. The flats are named after the three trawlers, viz.: St Romanus, Kingston Peridot, and Ross Cleveland. A memorial service was held here on 4 February 2022.
