Built at Swindon in 1949, the locomotive was used for shunting services at London (1949-50) and Southall (1950-61) until it was withdrawn by British Rail. The Severn Valley Railway acquired the locomotive in 1970, and is the only surviving locomotive of ten of the GWR 1500 Class. The locomotive hosted a local train from Kidderminster to Arley during the first day of the SVR Spring Steam Gala of 2022.
