Slight undulations in the farm field are giving away a little clue. This spot by the river was the site of a mediaeval settlement. Investigations have unearthed fragments of thirteenth and fourteenth century articles, suggesting a long period of occupation which may have included industrial use of the river. There appear to be outlines of houses, possibly a windmill and other buildings. The river also appears to have been directed in several places but the leats are now dry.
