Positions are approximate. The pool is used to store water to scour the harbour on the falling tide. There were also quays alongside the pool and it can be accessed at the right tide state but I doubt vessels often venture here now. There was a pile of dumped metal work and wood here, including a cast pipe that might have been a rising main from a mine.
