In the foreground the Rochdale Canal crosses Walsden Water. Environmental Agency work here had resulted in the large new retaining wall at a culvert entrance. Walsden Water comes under the canal for a brief glimpse of daylight before entering the culvert and going through a tight bend to go under the house beyond
