This otherwise unremarkable stone on Lancaster Canal towpath is exactly half-way between 2 milestones Image and Image Could it be a half-mile marker? It's not a boundary stone. There are no inscriptions visible. Any information would be welcome. Update 11/10/2022: Having found and been told about other half-mile marker stones on Lancaster Canal, I am fairly sure that this is one.
