Great Northern Street South, which runs beyond these gates, is marked on the Google maps but not my street map of Belfast. Rather than an actual road, it appears little more than an entry for the houses on Great Northern Street itself, although it is a great deal wider than the traditional Belfast entry, probably due to the fact that the railway runs along the other side. The gate has been installed as a "road traffic order" has been issued restricting access to the entry (a road traffic order would make me think that this is still designated as a road but I could be wrong).
