This was early days for the DLR, which had only then been operative for just over 3 1/2 years. The car is No 21, the highest-numbered member of the 'P89' class - the second batch delivered. Like the first batch, these cars had no end doors, and have now been superseded, as they would not have been permitted on the underground section to Bank.
