This area west of Cambridge Station was originally the Great Northern Railway goods yard. The GNR was one of four companies which served Cambridge before the Grouping of 1923 - the others were the Great Eastern, the London & North Western and the Midland. This part of Cambridge has changed out of all recognition in the last fifteen years.
