Caernarfon Station is the northern terminus of the narrow gauge Welsh Highland Railway. It was opened on 11 October 1997 on the site of the former (LNWR) standard gauge trackbed adjacent to St. Helen's Road. A new station to a modern design was built during 2018 and 2019. The famous mediaeval castle forms a grand backdrop.
