At the top of Buttermarket where it meets Cornhill in Bury St Edmunds is situated Moyses Hall which is currently a museum - their website here: https://www.moyseshall.org The building dates originally from the late C12th but was considerably restored and altered in 1858. Originally a merchant's house it but later had a variety of uses, including an inn, a Bridewell (a prison for minor offences) and a police station before becoming a museum It is EH Grade I listed: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1076931?section=official-list-entry See also Image] for a closer view.
