This building, currently in use as a kindergarten / nursery, was originally the Key Lodge from and situated at the entrance to Middlewood Hospital. The hospital, now closed, was also known as Middlewood Mental Hospital, West Riding Asylum and initially the South Yorkshire Asylum. Still visible on the side of this building, and in the photo immediately above the two windows, are the letters SYA and the date 1877.
