William Tarver Close was a Barratt housing development from the early 1980s. The name commemorates William Leslie Tarver, Master Builder and a popular councillor and Mayor of Warwick who died suddenly in 1982. He had been brought up in the nearby Meadow Road area. The Barratt site had been a laundry, shown as a large building on a map of 1937.
