Norton War Memorial

The war memorial stands by the gate to All Saints' Church. It is dedicated to 'my brother Alexander Thynne and the men of Norton Parish who gave their lives for their country in the war against Gemany 1914-1919'. Thynne, Lord of the manor of Norton and the son of the Marquess of Bath, was an MP and a lieutenant colonel in the Wiltshire Regiment; he was killed in action in September 1918 at the age of 45.
